So, as you can imagine, I was super excited for the chance to chat with her about selling online, the importance of a unique, well branded product and more!
Hello Rachel! Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m From Raleigh. NC. I’m an artist, jewelry designer, photographer and stylist.
Your jewelry is so unique! What initially inspired you to create such powerful statement pieces?
I saw a void in the market for jewelry that represented women like me, with natural hair and not afraid to make a statement or wear one!
What is the message behind your products (if any)?

Do you think it’s important to have a strong message behind your brand?
I think it’s very important. I want to connect with my clients, I want them to know who and what Rachel Stewart is about. I’m not just here to make a fast dollar, I’m here to empower. It’s past time for us as women to redefine ourselves and set our our own beauty standards.
What made you choose to sell online, as opposed to other avenues (pop-up shop, brick and mortar, or getting your product on other store’s shelves)?
Selling online costs almost nothing. I can be open 24 hours a day without having another set of utility bills. The technology is there and I’m taking advantage of all of it.
Any advice for other entrepreneurs trying to sell their handmade products online?
Don’t wait for the perfect moment, or even the perfect product. And lastly, what do you love most about yourself?
I love that I never have needed approval from anyone. If I have an idea I go with it, I trust my intelligence and my talents. I don’t need anyone to tell me I’m special.
