You ever find a site so fun that you find yourself visiting it over and over and over again? That’s what happened when I found The Confetti Bar, an online wonderland full of fun, creativity and, of course, confetti! At The Confetti Bar you can buy custom confetti by the cup. Want to quit your job but need a way to lighten the mood after? There’s confetti for that. Seriously, they can make anything you want into confetti! Hashtags, logos and slogans become immortalized in sequins and metallic bits.
After crushing on this fun brand for a while, I decided to approach the fabulous owner Jessica about collaborating with my shop Adorned By Chi for an awesome tea party here in Dallas! She was so nice, I just had to ask her a few questions about how she was able to build a business selling fun in the form of confetti!
Hi Jessica! Can you tell us a bit about who you are, where you’re from and what you do?
Hey! My name is Jessica and I live in Wallingford, CT. My husband, Clifford, and I co-own The Confetti Bar, a boutique confetti shop specializing in unique and custom confetti mixes. While we are mainly an online shop, we also have a studio in Wallingford, CT where we host special events!
You sell a very unique product. What was your inspiration for selling confetti, and how did you get started?
I literally woke up one day and told my husband I wanted to start a confetti shop. I used to collect & sort metallic confetti/sequins from the craft store, but when it came to actually using confetti I found there was a real shortage of really cool, colorful, unique mixes. SO i started making my own, and voila! The Confetti Bar was born 🙂
The Confetti Bar is a genius brand! You’re not just selling confetti, you’re selling fun. How important is branding to your business?
From the very beginning I knew I wanted to create a brand more than just a product. Yes, we sell a physical product, but to me it’s really just a representation of a larger overall feeling we want to share.
Starting a business is hard, and sometimes lonely work. What advice do you have for other ladies looking to sell products online?
Be committed. There is so much that goes into running a business, and you have to make sure you’re in it for the right reasons. You have to love what you do so much that even all the not so fun stuff will seem worth it to keep on growing and evolving and to stay committed throughout.
Lastly, name one thing you love about yourself! 🙂
I love that I am really self-motivated. Sure I love being inspired by others and collaborating on projects, but I also know I don’t have to rely on anyone else to get stuff done.
Thanks Jessica! You, your business and your brand are amazing!
