Cortnie Elizabeth is a fab fashion blogger and e-commerce entrepreneur who sells the chicest brand of handbags known to man, er, woman- Love, Cortnie. Oh and did I mention she only learned to sew less than 4 years ago? Yup! Cortnie used her downtime while she was in-between jobs to fuel her creativity and it paid off big time! Now, she sells her handbags full time and she’s her own boss. Want to know more about Cortnie? You’re in luck! I was able to catch up with her and find out what inspires her, and what advice she has for other ladies looking to follow in her footsteps and sell online.
Hi Cortnie! Where are you from and what do you do?
I’m from Maryland, but now reside in Miami, FL as of January. I run my handbag business full-time.
Your clutches are so chic! What inspires your designs?
I’m inspired by everything! Color combinations, trends, something I saw in a magazine, tv or even online, etc. Inspiration comes from everywhere.

You were actually between jobs when you learned to sew and began selling your bags, which I think is awesome! Any advice for other young ladies who are between jobs, and hoping to start something as amazing as Love, Cortnie?
Well, thanks. 🙂 I had no expectations. I started for fun and as a hobby. I had no idea it would eventually turn into what it is now. Just work hard and be consistent. If you want it bad enough, you’ll figure out how to make it happen.
Why did you choose to sell online? And do you plan on ever making the move towards a brick and mortar, or selling your purses to retailers?
If you have a business you should have some type of website. Period. I have an actual physical item that I sell. If I wanted to reach a wide range of people, online is the way to go. Why limit yourself? I’ve been able to ship internationally because of my website. I’d love to make the move to retailers one day. It’s definitely in the plans!

I love the freedom of working for myself. Making my own schedule. It’s a lot of work, but I’d have it no other way. Plus it allows me to be creative all the time. It’s perfect.
And lastly, what is one thing you love about yourself!
My ability to adapt. I may stress about it, but I always can adapt and adjust to a situation without completely driving myself crazy.
