It’s that time again. Yup. Income report time. I’m committing a huge blogging no-no and posting this in the evening when nobody’s going to be reading. But I prefer that because these things are so awkward for me! But I know how inspirational they can be so I share anyway.
I made a few more dollars than last month which is awesome, but at the same time a bit disappointing. However August was a weiiiiird month for me and it was full of odd transitions so I’m positive September will be way better!
Anyway before I get into the moolah, let me show you my stats:
I doubled my page views and increased my users and sessions. My bounce rate also went down which means people are sticking around and reading more posts! This is amazing to me. My goal for 2015 was to increase my page views to 20,000 a month and I never thought I’d be so close so soon. I’m not going to act like my income report didn’t help with that because it definitely, definitely did. I think it’s a sign that I should share more posts about blogging and making money online.
Now, here’s a breakdown of where my money came from this month:
Social media management: $1415
Google Adsense: $3.53 (sidebar ad) + $12.25 (Youtube)
I should also add that in my last report I said I wanted August to be the month of brand partnerships and affiliates…well I got my first brand partnership! I won’t be posting about it until a few days from now, but yay for accomplishing goals! I’m also a sponsor myself, and my future online shop that I can’t shut up about will be sponsoring the Dallas portion of the Finesse Your Life Tour. So if you’re in the Dallas area and want to see me and my products in person you need to be at this event. It’ll be loads of fun! Ok, now on to the details.
While I don’t promote my services much, I do offer social media management services and social media consultations for fashion and beauty brands.
What I learned: Once again this was my highest money maker and you’d think I’d wake up, smell the coffee, and promote my butt off. But nope. Self promotion is such a pain to me, but I’m working on it!
I have two e-books for sale in my blog shop: “Jump Into Online Sales” and “63 Ways To Market Your Online Shop“. It’s amazing to me that I can sell my knowledge and experience, but when you think of all the time I’m saving you by sharing what I’ve learned over 2+ years and counting the value is worth way more than the $6 price tag.
What I learned: I need to stop under-pricing my products. Price can be seen as a reflection of the value inside and I definitely did not properly convey their value by selling them for less than a meal at McDonalds. My next e-book will be jam packed with even more info and will be sold at the right price!
I actually shut down my Etsy shop down a few days into the month to focus on planning my new shop, Adorned by Chi, which has been taking up most of my time. I like cute mugs but I’m not obsessed with them like I am clothing and accessories, so closing the Etsy shop was no big deal to me. With my new shop I’ll be able to be way more creative!
What I learned: Do what you love. It’s way more fun!
So that’s that! I obviously didn’t hustle enough this last month, but then again planning a new shop is a huge task. I want to double this amount in September. I know it’s a lofty goal but I believe I can do it! I need to submit guest posts to relevant blogs, collaborate with other creatives, and utilize my social media accounts more. Also, a service I definitely want to add is online shop set up. I’ll make a post about it once it’s available, or if you’re interested now you can contact me.
